Dear Friends,
Yesterday, the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) started accepting applications for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP).
SYEP provides youth between the ages of 14-24 with paid summer employment and job readiness training for up to 6 weeks in July and August. The deadline to submit applications is April 10, 2015.
Programs are located in community-based organizations across the five boroughs and participants are selected by lottery. DYCD also offers specialized programming for disabled, foster care, runaway/homeless and court-involved youth.
I would appreciate it if you would help me spread the word about this important program and encourage youth and their families to apply.
For Youth:
Youth can apply for the program online or at a community-based organization during the application period.
For Community-Based Organizations:
Community-based organizations interested in becoming a SYEP provider or worksite can apply online here.
Additional information about SYEP, including applications and flyers, can be found on DYCD’s website at www.nyc.gov/dycd.
If you have any questions about the program, please send an email to meugene@council.nyc.gov.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Council Member Mathieu Eugene
