Poem: Love Is Vertical

It’s an intimate power

God given

omnipresent but not obviously horizontally

all over the place.

It’s

a vertical

relationship

top-down

from the

crown of

your head

to the

soles of your feet

Or down

through your eyes

if they shine.

Or mouth

mouth

if you speak

with honey or sing.

It comes

across your

hips and knees

with renewal

to reach the tips of your fingers

toward grabbing new purpose

and to your feet

for fabulous new directions.

Love like

talk with Father-God is a

vertical and private

conversation.

It offers a heart for change

in all of our conditions

in

divine terms.

Heaven

speaks

to dust

in its action of

endless

dirt moving and miracles.

We

are hearing

and willing

to

transform

dirt

soil

molecule

mineral

mettal

ways

for

more

of

love’s

vertical

intimate

attention

and

appetite

for

God’s

voice.
